Smoking Is Down but Not by Much, U.S. Reports

Smoking in is Down, but Not by Much
One in five Americans smoked last year.

  • Smoking is one of the worst things you can do to yourself.
  • Cigarettes affect every organ of the body adversely.
  • Respiratory diseases including COPD
  • Osteoporosis in post-menopausal women.
  • Cancers of every type.
  • Increased risk of infertility, stillbirth, pre-term labor and birth defects.
  • If your child's best friends smoke, then your youngster is 13 times more likely to smoke than if his or her friends did not smoke.
  • Smokers average 31 percent higher healthcare costs than nonsmokers.

Figure out how much you spend on cigarettes using the Smoking Calculator at http://www.tobaccofreeu.org/calculator/index.asp.
If you smoke,
try setting aside the money used for your cigarettes and switch over to the "dark side." Buy up shares of MO (Altria is the parent company of Phillip Morris) and capitalize on what 20% of Americans buy. In the last year, it has gone up 13%! (while other companies have tanked!). If you don't smoke, congratulations!

* Note: For my own personal ethical reasons, I do not own any shares of MO.
